Stop Tricking.

Author: Linnea

Somewhere, hopefully hiding in the corner of some bin or box or bag lies an envelope; a carefully organized manilla envelope containing clearly labeled little envelopes designating the screws, nuts, and bolts for no less than six book cases, two chairs, one end table, and one desk. We are sure that we placed this envelope in the very spot that seemed most logical and useful at that time…some months ago.

We have now spent many hours unpacking. The pile of meticulously indexed and now empty boxes has grown, as has the “goodwill” pile. But, we are at a bit of a stand still since it’s rather difficult to unpack much more without the shelves and desk to fill. I thought that maybe by writing about this, the chameleon envelope might stop tricking us and start treating us.

In the mean time, cider is warming, music is playing, and jack-o-lanterns have been carved. Very warm bear cub and puppy dog costumes have been located. So I leave you with a few photos of the non-unpacking activities this happy weekend.

Where did you go!

Author: Linnea

That’s what I’d like to ask the post I just wrote; and you might be wondering the same of me! For once it was not I who went but rather we received our first official visitor. And she surprised me at that!! I crushed her dreams of waltzing up and knocking on our door, but she skipped into a cafe all the same. And I got teary. I forget how much I miss my cousin Emily (who lives in Germany) until I actually see her. And then I remember.

There are some good pictures and when we get Internet hooked up, I will dig them out. For now, here’s a quick one taken on my phone of the sugary fall goodness purchased at Robinettes.

The soul should always stand ajar,

ready to welcome the ecstatic experience.

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. It may be quiet here, but we are busily working in our new house, preparing to make it a place of welcome…

Packing It all In

Author: Linnea

The trip is finished. We packed it all in, literally. From visiting loved ones to meeting strangers, ocean to lakes, rivers to mountains, summer to fall, tourist traps to mingling with locals, cities to rural, squirrels to deer… And we have the trunk (and bug bites/sun tan/dirty laundry/muddy boots) to prove that we lived it up to the fullest. And with slight changes to plans, it was a rainless camping portion of our trip. Perfection. To those we saw along the way: thank you, we love you. To those we missed: I’m sorry but we look forward to the next time.

And here is our trunk. Looks kind of like a search and find: muddy shoe, tent, bourbon gift shop bag, new kite, potato sack, wipes, picnic backpack, suitcase o dirty dirty clothes, and wet clothes drying in the back window. Ah yes, the signs of a great camping trip.
